FOX CARLTON POND SPORTING CAMPs Campground & RV Park
COACHING TRADITIONAL, TENKARA, & TROUT SPEY
STYLE OF FLY FISHING
We are located in the beautiful Western Mountains of Maine, birthplace of Fly Rod Crosby who was awarded the first Registered Maine Guide license and is highly regarded as the Annie Oakley of Fly-Fishing. Our secluded and historic 5 acre trout pond is private and has natural and stocked Brook and Rainbow Trout. No fishing license is required for guests to fish our idyllic Trout filled pond.
This all encompassing "Fly-Fishing Class" is for beginners as well as experienced fly fishermen ages 7 and up. You will be instructed on theory and practice of casting on Fox Carlton Pond. Our expert instructors will guide you step by step through the four-part cast, false cast and roll cast. They will explain how to strip and shoot line as well as tying fishing knots, reading water, tackle know how, fly selection, approach and presentation, playing, landing and releasing fish. "Tenkara fly-fishing, uses only a rod, line & fly, is very easy to learn and a valuable tool to get beginners involved in the sport and experienced fly fishermen to find another way to enjoy the outdoors.
Join us for coffee at 8:00AM with course beginning at *8:30AM and ending at 2:30PM.

Bring your own equipment or we will supply you with fly-fishing equipment. Just let us know ahead of time so we will be prepared for you. Bring rain gear, hat with visor, rugged closed-toe shoes, personal prescriptions such as EpiPen or inhaler, polarized sunglasses with lanyard, forceps to release fish, a pair of nippers on a ‘zinger’ (when we tie knots you will want to be able to trim your work or nip off a fly etc.) and bug dope (moving water and black flies go together). If you have waders you may want to bring with you because the Orbiton Stream is cold.
